Las Vegas Family Hotels

You might not think of Las Vegas when you are planning a family vacation, but it is worth considering. Although Las Vegas conjures images of late night card games at the casino or scantily dressed show girls on stage, there are now an amazing number of family friendly hotels and entertainment parks for kids to enjoy.

History

Historically, Las Vegas was an adult paradise. In the 1960's the Rat Pack and Wayne Newton dominated the night club scene and the city was primarily about gambling, dining, and shows as well as quickie marriages and divorces. In 1969, Elvis opened at the International Hotel and held court there for years. Building and investments imploded in Las Vegas in the 1980s, and today the area boasts that it is the largest metropolitan city in the U.S. founded in 20th century.

Considerations

Kids love the various themed hotels that Las Vegas offers such as the Excalibur, where they can imagine themselves as knights at King Arthur's round table or explore a great game area.
The Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino has four pools, including a wave pool and a 400-foot-long Lazy River. The hotel has several fast food restaurants and there is an arcade on site or Gameworks across the street by the mall.
Another fun hotel for children is the Circus Circus Hotel where you can count on reasonably priced rooms. There are plenty of free circus acts to entertain the kids as well as inexpensive food options. The Adventuredome Theme Park will keep everyone entertained for $24.95 per person for a whole day pass.
New York/New York Hotel and Casino has one of the largest game arcades in Las Vegas. It is located just across the street from the Excalibur, movie theaters and mall. They also have a roller coaster and a food court for quick meals.
